Acne & Acne Scar Solutions
Lightning does strike twice, as does acne. It hits you in your teens and then again in your 40s. It can be emotionally painful as it pulls your confidence down to an all-time low at both stages of your life. Imagine walking with your head down or avoiding meeting friends. Unfortunately, hormonal changes are in no one’s control. Combined with dust, pollution and an unhealthy lifestyle – acne can scar your skin and your confidence.

What causes acne?
It all begins with the increased secretion of hormones called androgens, deep inside your skin. Which provokes the sebaceous glands to overproduce a substance called sebum. And when clogged skin pores block off any possible avenue of escape for this excess sebum, the area around these glands may swell and get infected. The inflammation of these clogged skin pores and their subsequent appearance as larger redder spots, sometimes filled with pus, is called acne.

Seagull Medical Center approaches combines medication with advanced peel formulations and skincare products to bring you a truly effective line of treatment for acne. The treatment reduces sebum production, exfoliates the skin to prevent clogging of pores, and acts as an anti-inflammatory to reduce the severity of acne. In addition to peels, our dermatologists may recommend a guideline for any hormonal or antibiotic medication, if they feel it’s absolutely necessary for you.

Seagull Medical Center advanced acne solutions aim at eradicating existing lesions and scars while preventing the formation of new ones. The process involves exfoliation, to help remove dead skin cells, pollution deposits and damaged skin. This aids in scar reduction, and in a thorough cleansing of the skin surface. Followed by RF treatment which penetrates the skin and remodels the scars to give you flawless, beautiful skin.

Post treatment recommendations
• Should your skin feel uncomfortable, splash your face with cold water as often as required and reapply moisturizer. If this occurs during sunlight hours, don’t forget to reapply sunscreen – minimum SPF 15 UVA and UVB. This will prevent pigmentation/burning in sunlight.
• Avoid using Retin A, Accutane and AHA products 7 days before and after a session.
• Do not expose treated areas to soap, bleach, talc, herbs, essential oils or perfume. Watch for products containing any of these ingredients.
• Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and swimming for 48 hours after a session.
• During the first 6-12 hours, try and restrict makeup to eyes and lips only.
• Should excessive redness or inflammation occur, please apply a cold compress to the affected area for 10-15 minutes.
